Abstract | CILJ: Istražiti učestalost metopičnoga šava na srednjovjekovnoj populaciji istočne obale Jadrana. METODE: U istraživanje su uključeni prethodno analizirani koštani ostaci iz antropološke zbirke Laboratorija za forenzičnu i biološku antropologiju, i to odrasle osobe, poznatoga spola i dobi, s očuvanom frontalnom kosti. Bilježeno je postojanje metopičnoga šava i to njegove podvrste: potpun, nepotpun, donji U, donji V, zrakasti, obrnuti Y, side to side i linearni. REZULTATI: Ukupno je analizirano 120 lubanja s očuvanom frontalnom kosti. Pronađeno je potpunih 5 (4,16 %) i nepotpunih metopičnih šavova 77 (64,16 %), te podvrste nepotpunog metopičnog šava: donji U 4 (3,33 %), donji V 2 (1,66 %), zrakasti 3 (2,5 %), obrnuti Y 1 (0,83 %), side to side 63 (52,5 %) i linearni 4 (3,33 %). U istraživanju nisu pronađeni: gornji, srednji, donji, donji H, donji Y, obrnuti U i dvostruki metopični šav. |
Abstract (english) | OBJECTIVE: To investigate frequency of the metopic suture on the eastern Adriatic coast population.
METHODS: We examined previously analyzed skeletal remains from the anthropological collection of the Laboratory for Forensic and Biological Anthropology, those of adults of known sex and age, with a preserved frontal bone. The existence of the metopic suture and its subtypes were recorded: complete, incomplete, lower U, lower V, radial, inverted Y, side to side and linear.
RESULTS: A total of 120 skulls with preserved frontal bone were analyzed. Five complete metopic sutures (4.16%) and 77 incomplete metopic sutures (64.16%) were found, and subtypes of incomplete metopic sutures as follows: lower U 4 (3.33%), lower V 2 (1.66%), radial 3 (2.5%), inverted Y 1 (0.83%), side to side 63 (52.5%) and linear type 4 (3.33%). We did not found: upper, middle, lower, lower H, lower Y, inverted U and double metopic suture.
CONCLUSION: In observed population that included nine medieval excavation sites from eastern Adriatic coast, there was no sex or temporal difference in the frequency of metopism. |
