This paper explores the legal regulation and potential application of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) in the Republic of Croatia. NFTs represent a new type of digital asset that enables ownership of unique digital content such as artwork, music, videos, and other digital files. Given their increasing popularity in the global digital environment, particularly in sectors such as art, gaming, finance, and tourism, the question arises as to how the legal framework in Croatia will respond to the challenges posed by this technology. The paper places special emphasis on analyzing the legal framework of the Republic of Croatia, including the current laws and regulations related to cryptocurrency and digital assets in general. It also examines European regulations, such as the MiFID (Markets in Financial Instruments Directive) and MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation), and their impact on NFTs in Croatia. By analyzing existing legal frameworks and proposals for new regulations, the paper aims to demonstrate how adequate these legal frameworks are for regulating NFTs and what adjustments would be necessary for their effective implementation. Additionally, the paper explores the possibilities of applying existing legal frameworks to NFTs, including aspects of consumer protection, intellectual property rights, taxation, and other legal issues that may arise in the context of NFTs. In conclusion, the paper presents the key findings of the research, highlighting the need for further study and adaptation of the legal framework to ensure that Croatia is prepared to respond to the challenges posed by this new technology.
